Hurricane Sandy - New York Dream Center Responds

Many people were affected by hurricane Sandy. All you see on the news is the damages that it caused, the after effects of a natural disaster.

Unfortunately, there were many people who died. Some people lost their houses, their electricity, their gas, and so many other valuable and important things. Many of which are irreplaceable.

If you were affected severely by the storm, my prayers goes out to you and your family. If you weren't affected by the storm than you should find some time or some way to help out the people who were.

I thank God that the worst my family and I experienced was a little cold weather and not anything extremely serious.

Since Wednesday I've been searching for a way to help out the victims of Sandy. Looking up information in the internet barely helped.

I want to volunteer and just be put in the middle of things to help people ut right away. But all I saw was "Donate this amount of money"  and "Donate that amount of money". Donating is great but I don't have any money to give.

I hardly found clear links to places where I can volunteer my time, skills, and services. And, if you wanted to volunteer than you would have to attend an orientation or training, nothing right away. I understand some people need to be trained on how to deal with people, but there's so many things going on that need immediate help so I wanted to share what NEW YORK DREAM CENTER is doing.

NEW YORK DREAM CENTER is an amazing church in downtown Manhattan that is volunteering and giving aid and everything they have to all everyone they can reach.

To volunteer, we will be meeting up in West 25th St between 9th and 10th avenue at 11am. Feel free to walk up to any one of us.

Check out the video and you will certainly be motivated!

Hey Everyone,
I pray this letter find you safe and dry from the crazy couple of days we all have had. Hurricane Sandy I guess really wanted to make her presence known on the east coast. We are doing everything we can to begin to meet the needs of those impacted by the storm in the city. We presently are working daily in our normal Adopt A Block Site in Chelsea. We are bringing water, candles, and supplies to those stuck without any power. Many elderly live on high floors and cant get out due to no power. Our team has been amazing walking up 15-20 flights of stairs in the dark bringing supplies to those who are without.
There are two ways you can begin to help 1.) Follow us on twitter to find out daily what time and where we will be out bringing supplies to those in need. We need all the man power we can get. 2.) We have started a Hurricane Relief Fund to help us provide resources to get all the supplies needed during the Relief efforts. We NEED donations! Please visit newyorkdreamcenter.org to Donate. What an incredible opportunity we have as a church to simply BE THE CHURCH to our City. The need is GREAT and we will do our part in seeing that need met. The Dream Centers Motto has always been "Find a need and fill it, Find a hurt and heal it." And we get to do just that during this trying time. Let give JESUS an opportunity to shine like never before! To any of you that are reading this that need help during the aftermath of the storm please email or call us with your needs so we can do our best to help you. For further updates please follow us on twitter @nycdreamcenter to stay update to date with all that we are doing.Stay safe and keep our city in your prayers. We love you all!!!

Hello Beautiful People,

As of November 1, I accepted the challenge to raise funds to support homeless youth. Please help support me in this important project by contributing generously.
Our plan is to sleep out and experience first hand what some of them have experienced. Also to show some of the homeless youth that there are people who care about them. There are people who say they want to do something about homelessness, and actually get it done.

My team has a goal set on raising $2,000 in 60 days. It might be hard but it can be done!

LariReviews: Elf Blush and Brush

Hello Beautiful people !

This is my first review so please bare with me. What are your reviews or opinions on these products?

Elf Studio Blush:

Color: Tickled Pink
Price: $2.86
Rate 1-10:  8
What?! I love the color, I love wearing it because it leaves a little shimmer.
This color is a little too light for me and it's barely noticeable on me but I still wear it. It was for a very great price, and if I see it again I might just buy it again !

Elf All Over Brush:

Price: $1
Rate 1-10: 9
What!? The Brush works!
I'm not the type to go all out buying expensive brushes when there are cheaper ones that do almost the exact same. I give it a nine and not a ten because the bristles can be sort of hard for someone who has really sensitive skin.
It can be used to apply foundation, blush, contour. I plan on getting a few more brushes from elf.

A lot of people have tried elf products and they resort to - their to cheap, and barely work - but I think they work fine, and nothing can ever be too cheap!

Do you have any Elf products?  Have you tried their 'Studio Blush'?

- Lots of Love, Larimarx33

Beauty Quotes:

BeautyForYouToKnow:

"Tinted moisturizers are good foundations because they can moisturize your skin and at the same time act as a concealer"

"Pick clothes that flatter your body, but don't go too far. People get the wrong impression if you show too much skin"

"Do not over-exercise and fast much because it will slow down your metabolism."

How to get ombre hair yourself!

I think its time for a change, perfect timing to change my hair style. I've never done anything to my hair, I love my natural hair color so i've never dyed it, never had highlights, or even extensions. I'm adventurous but not with my hair!

Ombre hair is a very popular trend for 2012, and I like it. I might just try it myself. What do you think of it? For those of you who already have it, what is your opinion on it?

If you want to try it out on your own here's a video to guide you:  Hope you like it!

Good Morning Beautiful people

And have an awesome day!

What are some of your plans for today?

My schedule for Today is : (no classes) :)

  1. Eat healthy (breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
  2. Be happy! + write in a journal about my day, (helps get a load off or to keep track of things)
  3. Pray, read the Bible, and worship
  4. Catch up on some reading for school
  5. Do my hair and nails
  6. Exercise: walk across a bridge to get to my awesome volunteer place in Pet smart and take care of some adorable kittens.

Happy Halloween

Hello beautiful people, how are you?
Today is Oct 31 or Halloween! The time of year when it is actually allowed to knock on random peoples door and to speak to strangers, and even to take things from people you know nothing about.

Yesterday I thought I heard Bloomberg postpone Halloween for a later day so that kids wouldn't go out trick or treating right after hurricane Sandy.
I knew that wasn't going to stop any of them, (maybe they'll get to go out twice this year).

I'm sure all the kids, like my niece and nephews, were anxious for halloween to come even though the storm was passing. They would probably still want to go out even if the storm hadn't stopped.

Just a reminder, it can be very dangerous going out trick or treating. Yes, it is fun, you feel like you're a part of all those people who are doing the same thing. You have less rules for a day. You get to dress up the way you had no guts to do any other time of the year, you get to meet new people, socialize, and get lots and lots of sugary sweets. Awesome right.

But there are, unfortunately, some people who do bad things during this ... holiday?
I would advise anyone who's trick or treating and is less than 18 to go with a parent or guardian.

Make sure all your candy is properly rapped before eating them. When you get home (If you're like my family you'll probably have more than one bag full of candy, and you'll reach in your bag and head straight to the chocolates) do not eat them all right away. Candy is and always will be hazardous for you health, monitor how much you or your kids eat, then put the rest away for another day, you do not want cavities!

I no longer go trick or treating because I'm older now and I don't need so many sweets. I'll let all the kids have them instead.

I stayed over my sisters house, cleaned, and learned some Portuguese! :)

So, tell me what did you do for Halloween?

Leather Fashion Trend 2012-13

One of the many trends that are in for this fall and coming spring is Leather.

Designers have certainly done their job and made leather somewhat more "attractive" then it was when it was first in around the 80's. People actually like it and want to wear it now.

Though not everyone thinks the same. A lot of people are having trouble adding Leather into their style, and a lot just don't like it.

Personally I like some of it, but I don't think I will be wearing it any time soon. The Leather jackets, boots, purses, and jewelry I like, everything else I'll stick to soft and more comfortable fabric.

What do you think?

Do you like the leather trend? If you do then how do you suggest it should be used? Do you own anything already in Leather?

Or maybe it's just not for you? Why not?

I found a couple of things made of Leather that I really liked on Polyvore.com.

Tips for New Aspiring Fashion Designers

_______________________________________

There are so many fashion designers with thousands of unique ideas. They come from all over the world. Some are lucky enough to know right from childhood they were meant to be designers and some grow a love for it as they get older.
When we look at magazines full of gorgeous fashion garments, pictures of models wearing designer clothing and runway shows that give and take so much inspiration, it's easy to get hooked on the action filled fashion world.

It has created a generation where almost everyone wants to be a fashion designer.
That being said I wanted to give a few little tips to some of you who have decided to try a career in fashion design but have no idea where to start.
It's not as difficult as it seems.

Get Inspired
Search, observe, and imagine.
Search the internet, magazines, and anything that you know you love to see if you get an ideas. Inspiration can come from anywhere, the people around you, the sky, the flowers, literally anything.
Observe the people around you, what they love , what they wear, and how they like to wear it. Observe colors that work together, observe everything.
Imagine your new design, and be creative. It might seem a little hard or overwhelming at first because there's so many things already out but if you have vision then it will certainly become easier over time. Your imagination will overflow with ideas.

Start drawing
You don't know how to draw? Start by using templates or croquis.
You can find them and many more on www.fashion-era.com or Google.com. Just print them out and then trace them with layout paper and draw your design. It helps you draw faster and helps you get your idea down quicker. Remember, getting your idea down on paper is more important than getting every detail on the figure perfect. After a while you might not need the templates anymore. Then you can start adding some personality to your fashion design model. Maybe a cute hair cut and some outstanding jewelry or make her pose a unique way that adds character to the drawing.
Like these few beautiful drawings:

Take Initiative
Critiques are to improve your work, make the clothes, get the customers, sell the clothes
Do not be afraid to show people your designs or to go to other people for opinions.  Remember you can learn from other people and you can always get better at drawing. If you have the guts, you can submit your work for evaluation or maybe for a job if an opportunity arrises. Or you can try having your own fashion line, by deciding on a brand name - registering it - learning to sew or hiring someone to do it for you and getting customers. You can decide where you want to sell, (online, home, small shop, ect..).

Fashion Or Style

image

Do you have style or are you fashionable?

Believe it or not there is a difference between style and fashion. Fashion is not style and style is not fashion.

What is Fashion?

Fashion changes over and over again. You can be fashionable and where the newest fashion trends out there but never be stylish. Taking fashion too serious can possibly make you a fashion victim.

What is Style?

Style is .. Not being afraid to stand out!

Women of style usually have a trademark, and are recognized by it. Like a great black jacket, or maybe a mix of colors that look amazing on her. They're the ones that would take an item of clothing and wear it in a way that it was never intended to be worn.

Style is .. Knowing when to stop.

For example, many people love animal prints. The difference between stylish and tacky is wearing one, maybe two pieces, at a time. The secret to being well dressed is underdressing. Allowing you to wear distinctive clothing that stands by itself.

Style is .. Going with what works for you.

If it feels comfortable, then you are going to get a lot more wear out of it. Even though something is right off the runway, unless you feel confident in it, leave it alone.

Style is .. Not always obeying silly fashion rules.

Style is .. A good fit.

Keep an eye out for how clothing should fall. You should know where those pants should fall or how that jacket should hang on you. Also size is a matter that changes based on the clothing item, or the fabric, or the designer. Pants made by one designer in a size 8 might be a size 6 in another brand.

The Classics

There is a backbone to fashion known as "classic dressing." It allows a woman to remain stylish throughout every season of her life. These are the women that are not wearing outrageous fashion from the runway, or not following the fashion editorials on magazines. They have they're own signature style and know what looks right and what doesn't. Fashion magazines themselves never meant to be taken literal on every page.

Are you making fashion your own & making it style? Or are you following the rules of fashion? What do you think?

About Me / My first Post, Welcome

Hello there!

Welcome to my blog! Pure Treasure
You're probably thinking, 'what a name for a blog'.
It was kind of hard to choose a name. When you're a new blogger and have no idea what you're getting yourself into, and every site about blogging says it is of major importance, than it gets a little overwhelming finding the perfect name.
I chose that name because of a quote that says, "A pure heart is the greatest of all treasures." It always reminds me that there is nothing, not even a jewel on earth, more important than a heart full of  happiness, love, confidence, purity, and awesomeness, that really is the greatest treasure. That is why I named my blog Pure Treasure.

The little things of a blog

 Hello there!

The sun is shining, the birds are singing & the kids are -Not- getting ready for school..

Today is Saturday!

Saturday is the day most people look forward to in the week. Whether you are relaxing, or checking things off your to-do list, remember to make the best of everything & smile for the day :)

My saturday
WordPress blog inspired Bible verse *what a mouthful*:

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

10 Tips for New College Freshman !

"I wish someone would have told me this before college."

First off  Congratulation to all those who graduated, you've made it and now it's time for a new era in your life! : ) I wanted to give new college freshman's out there some helpful tips for their first year. I might have been more excited for college if I wasn't worrying about these things. I did not live in a dorm room my first year, I commuted which means some things might be a little different for college newbies who are going to dorm this year.  These tips should apply to almost any school you go to. So here we go:

Joe Jonas where?

My niece meeting Joe Jonas in New York. A couple of blocks away from me and they didn't tell me :/ Mind you my sister just became a fan last week and she already got to see him on Monday.

They said he was kind, tall, and cute :)

WordPress or Blogspot?

I started two blogs, fully intending on maintaining both of them, but I have to say it's much harder than it seems. I have a Wordpress blog that has been going great for me so far with over 40 posts and followers.

Blogger, have I been neglecting you? with your lonesome post made in July. I've barely finished customizing the background and adding categories.

Well, don't worry any longer, I will make some time to post here more often! Starting from right now..

WordPress or Blogspot?
